Data Scientist, Oncology Bioinformatics

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is a rapidly growing startup company headquartered in Boston, MA with additional laboratory facilities in Basel, Switzerland. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with a strong computational and analytical background to join our Data Science team in Boston. The candidate will be a highly creative computational biologist/ data scientist with strong programming and data analysis background and an ambition to tackle high-impact complex computational biology problems involving large-scale biological and pharmacological datasets. The successful candidate will work closely with a world-class team of scientists to develop the next generation of protein degraders in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment. In this position, you will have the opportunity to push the boundaries of science and help to accelerate the discovery of new therapeutics for cancer and beyond.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

·        Develop and maintain analytical and data visualization pipelines for next generation sequencing, proteomics, and pharmacological data

·        Design and execute data analysis strategies to support research projects involving multimodal datasets

·        Together with other team members, you will develop and advance the Monte Rosa in-silico target identification and virtual screening engine

·        Analyze public clinical and preclinical datasets (e.g. TCGA, GENIE, CCLE and DepMap) to prioritize drug targets and identify patient populations

·        Support the in-vitro and in-vivo experimental design, data analysis and data visualization

·        Present ideas and results to the Data Science team. Prepare written reports and presentations for internal and external use

Job Qualifications

·        Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline

·        Strong programming background; Proficiency in at least one modern programming language; Experience with a scientific programming environment, such as python, R, or Matlab

·        Experience with high throughput computing or cloud computing platforms

·        Experience with computational analysis, algorithm development, statistics, and machine learning

·        Flexibility to accommodate to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines

·        Ability to work in a team-based environment

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills

·        Background in genetics or biology is a plus

·        Knowledge of cancer genomics is a plus but is NOT required
