Duties is a nanopore based sequencing group of dedicated to making clinical genetic testing easy and affordable. We are developing a revolutionary, low cost, single-molecule, semiconductor-based DNA sequencer. This technology will improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for infectious diseases and diagnosis of various cancers.
is looking for a motivated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about revolutionary sequencing technology. The System Engineer I will become an expert on the operation, theory, and data analysis from the new Single Molecule Sequencing platform and help take the instrument and system from an advanced proof of concept to an operational laboratory instrument. The System Engineer I will design and implement experiments on thesequencer and will help monitor, improve, and analyze microfluidic consumable devices (CDs), instrument interfaces, and processes. The candidate will analyze and present experimental results around quality, variability, and robustness of the consumable devices and the system and work collaboratively across CD, instrument, reagents, and system teams. The candidate must be self-motivated, details-oriented, and able to work well in a team.

Accurately and consistently record experimental method, materials, and results for daily consumable device QC tasks
Become an expert on the operation of the High Throughput Sequencing Platform
Design, implement, and analyze sequencing results of various consumable device process changes and various operating parameters
Investigate, troubleshoot, conduct failure analysis, and perform consumable device development in a fast-paced environment
Debug instrumentation, consumable device, and software issues to create a robust platform
Understand and apply statistical methods, design of experiments, and/or process control monitoring techniques

Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and electronic record keeping skills
Proficiency in writing technical reports and verbally communicating with other technical staff
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, along with experimental design experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Self-motivated and able to work well in a team
Prefer experience with statistical data analysis using JMP, python or R
Prefer understanding of or experience with DNA manipulation techniques, sequencing methodologies, or other wet laboratory instrumentation

B.S. in a biochemistry, chemistry, or materials discipline with the ability to perform statistical analysis of data with programs such as JMP, minitab, Matlab, R. Familiarity with computer programming in languages such as or Python is a plus OR
B.S. in computer science, electrical engineering, biomolecular engineering, chemical engineering, statistics, or a related discipline with a background in molecular biology or biochemistry
